If a meeting is in progress when you enter the chat rooms, please take a few moments to become oriented. Usually, a greeter will contact you privately and will inform you of the topic being discussed and the basics of using the chat rooms.
During non-meeting times, much socializing occurs. Though The e-AA Group of Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinions on outside issues, individuals often do, and most likely you will hear some. Please be courteous. We have no extra bandwidth to spare for personal attacks or offensive language.
Profiles and personal information. The e-AA group attempts to keep our chat room a safe friendly AA oriented 12 step focused room. All logs are reviewed at least daily, and system operators (sysops) and administrators log in throughout the day to monitor the chat rooms. There are several billion people who have access to the internet however. Once in the chat room, anyone has access to any information you enter in your profile or share in open chat through the log function of the chat room. We urge caution in filling out profiles and providing email address and other contact information. The e-AA group reserves the right to delete any inappropriate log in info (racist, sexist log in names, jpg files etc.)
Privacy. Chat programs generate log files. Group system administrators review them periodically. Additionally, now and then an "Admin" will enter a room. These individuals see all messages in real time, including private, or "whispered," messages. We therefore suggest that you not discuss anything in these chat rooms that should be truly private.
